SSC CGL Exam 2022 Overview

SSC CGL Exam 2021-22 Final Answer Key (Tier-1) has been released online by the Commission on the 14th of July. The final answer key was released along with the official question papers of SSC CGL Tier-1 exam. SSC CGL Tier-1 Answer key will be available for download till 12th August. SSC CGL Tier-I exam was conducted from April 11 to 21 at designated exam centers across the country. SSC released the marks of the candidates on July 12. After normalization, the marks of the candidates were increased but in some cases, the final marks were reduced from the raw marks.

SSC CGL Exam 2022

SSC CGL Exam Date 2022 has been announced on 6th July. Candidates must check the exam dates here and plan their preparation accordingly. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct the CGL Tier-II and Tier-III exams in August 2022. SSC CGL 2021 Tier-II exam will be conducted online as a Computer Based Examination (CBE) on the 8th and 10th of August. SSC CGL Tier-III exam will be conducted on August 21 in pen and paper mode. SSC CGL Tier-II Application Status will be released tentatively by 25th July. SSC Southern Region is always the leader in releasing the application status of SSC exams.

SSC CGL 2022 Exam Dates also released by SSC. SSC CGL 2022 notification will be released on 10th September and the last date to apply for the exam will be 1st October. SSC CGL 2022 Tier-I exam will be conducted in December 2022. The actual exam dates will be released later. SSC CGL Exam Date 2022 will be very important for the candidates as they have to prepare their study plan for the exam as per the official dates.

SSC CGL 2021 Tier-I result was released online on July 4. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released four SSC CGL result PDFs for each post group. The commission also released the category-wise cutoff for each post group and the number of candidates available under all categories for the Tier-II exam. Candidates must check their roll number in each official result pdf. The commission also released the SSC CGL 2021 Vacancies just before the result. The total number of vacancies for the SSC CGL 2021 exam is 7,686. SSC CGL Tier-I exam was conducted from April 11 to 21 and its provisional answer key was released on May 2.

SSC CGL 2020 skill test details were released by the Commission on 15th July. SSC CGL Tier-III Result 2020 has been released online on 7th July. The commission has released the cutoff for each post group separately. SSC declared Tier-II result on April 26, in which around 31 thousand candidates were declared qualified for evaluation of Tier-III answer sheets. The commission has now declared about 30 thousand candidates qualified for Document Verification (DV), Common Proficiency Test (CPT), and Data Entry/Skill Test (DEST). Admit card for the skill test will be issued soon.

What is SSC CGL?

The full form of SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL). SSC CGL is a national-level examination conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to shortlist candidates for Group-B and -C posts in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India. Every year, around 30 lakh candidates fill out the SSC CGL application form and around 15 lakh candidates appear for the exam. The staff Selection Commission conducts the exam in four stages called tiers. The first two levels of the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) exam are conducted in online mode. The next two stages of the exam are conducted in offline mode.

SSC CGL 2021 exam process was started on December 23, 2021, and is still going on.

SSC CGL 2022 Answer Key

SSC will release the final answer key for the CGL Tier-I exam conducted from April 11 to 21. The tentative answer key was released on May 2 by the Commission. SSC CGL answer key (final) is prepared after considering the objections raised by the candidates. There are no provisions for raising objections against the final answer key released by the commission.

How to Apply for SSC CGL 2022 Exam?

SSC CGL 2022 application can only be filled online and no physical form will be accepted by the commission in this regard. The candidates have to fill the SSC CGL 2022 online application form on the official website of the commission in two parts – registration and application. The steps to fill the application form are given below.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of SSC – ssc.nic.in.
  • Step 2: ‘New Users?’ Click on Register now link.
  • Step 3: Fill the SSC CGL registration form.
  • Step 4: Log in to the registered account using Registration Number (generated at the time of registration) and Password (set at the time of registration).
  • Step 5: Fill all the details asked in the SSC CGL application form.
  • Step 6: Upload the scanned images of photograph and signature and other important documents, if applicable.
  • Step 7: Review the SSC online form carefully and click on the final submit button.
  • Step 8: Pay the application fee of INR 100 in online or offline mode.

SSC CGL 2022 Application Fee


Candidates can pay the SSC CGL application fee of Rs 100 in online or offline mode through SBI Challan/ BHIM UPI/ Internet Banking/ Credit Card/ Debit Card. However, all women and candidates belonging to reserved categories like Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Disabilities (PWD) and Ex-Servicemen (ESM) were exempted from application fee payment.

SSC CGL 2022 eligibility

SSC CGL 2022 eligibility criteria are different according to the post applied by the candidate. However, the basic criteria that candidates need to fulfill in order to fulfill SSC CGL eligibility are given below:

  • Nationality/Citizenship: A candidate must be either a citizen of India, a person of Indian origin, a subject of Nepal/Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee
  • Age Limit: Candidate age should be between 18 to 32 years
  • Educational Qualification: Candidate should have completed Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University or Institute

SSC CGL 2022 Selection Process

The SSC CGL selection process will consist of the following stages/levels:

  • Application Process: Candidates are required to fill the online application form on the official website of the Commission in a specified manner. The application fee is Rs 100.
  • Tier-I Admit Card: SSC regional websites release the admit card for CGL Tier-I exam. Candidates are required to download their admit cards from these regional SSC websites in a specified manner.
  • Tier-I Exam: Tier-I is a Computer-Based Examination (CBE) consisting of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) of 200 marks.
  • Tier-I Result: The result is declared by SSC on its official website within 45 days of the exam. The result contains the names and/or roll numbers of the candidates who have qualified for the Tier-II examination.
  • Tier-II Admit Card: Qualified candidates are required to download their admit cards for Tier-II exam from the official regional websites. The admit card is usually issued about a week before the exam.
  • Tier-III Admit Card: Tier-III exam is conducted after Tier-III exam and the gap between exams is only one week to ten days. So Tier-II Admit Cards are issued after Tier-II Admit Card.
  • Tier-II Exam: Tier-II is again a CBE which is divided into four papers.
  • Tier-III Exam: Tier-III is a pen-and-paper-based exam which is descriptive in nature.
  • Tier-II Result: Tier-II result is declared in the form of merit list on the official website of the commission. Candidates clearing Tier-II exam are called to appear for Tier-III paper.
  • Tier-III Result: Similar to Tier-I and -II results, candidates can also check CGL result for Tier-III in online mode only. The candidates who qualify the Tier-III exam will have to appear for the final stage – Tier-IV.
  • Tier-IV Admit Card: Like the admit card for other tiers, the Tier-IV admit card is also available for download on the regional websites of SSC.
  • Tier-IV Exam: In Tier-IV, SSC conducts either Computer Proficiency Test, Skill Test or Document Verification as per the post applied by the candidate. SSC CGL Tier-IV is only a qualifying paper. This means that the marks obtained by the candidates in Tier-IV are not counted at the time of declaration of the final result.
  • SSC CGL Result: The final result is declared on the basis of the performance of the candidates in Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III examinations. All the eligible candidates are then allotted Group-B and C posts in various Ministries/Departments/Organizations of the Government of India.
